Mustangs both old and new are invited to Norman, Okla. on April 13 to join either the caravan heading to the Charlotte Motor Speedway or the one going to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The driving event will take place over four days. Thousands of Mustangs are expected, making it the "largest caravan of Mustangs" ever, according to Ford. "The official Mustang 50th anniversary celebration will kick off in the middle of the country so people can enjoy these pony cars as they were intended to be used, ‘on the road,’” said Ronald D. Bramlett, executive director of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration, in a recent statement from Ford.
“We believe this will be the largest group of Mustangs traveling together in the world.”
The Mustang Club of America is coordinating the event, which will also include ceremonies, track events, parade laps, and themed dinners along the way. Those on the Charlotte route will stop in Little Rock, Ark.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Asheville, N.C. Those on the Las Vegas path will drop down in Amarillo, Tex.; Albuquerque, N.M., and Flagstaff, Ariz. Drivers can either start in Norman or join one of these stop routes along the way.
