Bentley has released full details about the2013 Continental GT Speed, the new performance flagship of the British automaker. The car is motivated by a large twin-turbo W12 6.0-liter engine that develops 616 hp (460 kW / 625 PS) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) available between 2,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. The power is transferred to the wheels with the help of an 8-speed ZF close-ratio automatic gearbox, allowing the car to do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 4 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

The front suspension consists of an aluminum double wishbone while at the back it has a trapezoidal multi-link configuration. Bentley’s engineers have updated the air suspension springs and dampers, providing  better body control. The Speed’s self-leveling system can position the ride height 10mm lower in comparison to the regular Continental GT.

The stopping power is provided by the large 405 mm (front) / 335 mm (rear) ventilated, cast iron brake discs with 8-piston calipers. Available for more money are the 420 mm (front) / 356 mm (rear) cross-drilled carbon silicon-carbide discs that are 20 kg lighter compared to the standard discs.

Exclusive to this model are the 9.5J x 21-inch ten twin-spoke wheels that are available in dark or bright tint finishes, and are wrapped in 275/35 ZR21 tires. Also only available on the GT Speed are the rifled exhaust tailpipes which are complemented by the rear lamp bezels.

Inside the cabin there is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 30GB hard drive. It comes with an eight-speaker sound system that can be controlled straight from an iPod. DAB digital radio is also supported wherever this infrastructure is available.
